Very good Multipurpose unit, April 14, 2010 By I purchased the DNX6160 about a month ago because it had the features that I needed for my car. I was impressed with the fact that it used the Garmin Navigation system. I was already familiar with the Nav because that is what my old system used and it was a snap to update and load. The other units that I looked at out there were using thier own proprietery navigation systems. The Parrot blue tooth was easy to setup but would not accept my call list, this is a major turn off for me as I have an extensive call list and their is no easy way for me to manually enter all the numbers on the unit. I have to pick up my phone to know who is calling me everytime it rings. It does do a great job answering calls and the communication is clear both inbound and outgoing (so I am told).
The sound on this unit is excellent...even using my stock Ford explorer speakers and sub. There are many ways to shape the sound in the EQ section and I was able to dial the sound right into what sounds great to... Read more

Great Head Unit, April 24, 2010 If you are looking for an all-in-one unit this is perfect... The Garmin GPS is accurate as well as fast responding to turns. The DVD player works great in the sun or in low light. The Ipod connector is a must if you have an ipod. The Bluetooth works great and sound quality is good. Easy to install with the proper wiring harness. Can buy updates for the Garmin online or through Best Buy. Can modify so DVD player is not synched up through the parking brake. Asthetically pleasing. Overall great unit. Would recommend to anyone.

I also have two of the previous 2009 models, the DNX-6140's. I have encouraged others to buy Kenwood Nav receivers based on their functionality and features along with a fairly good experience (I post to a handful of automotive forums).
Well, it would seem that what you have read here is true. Kenwood really doesn't expect to stand behind it's products or make their customers feel good about the brand.
One day out of the blue this 6160 had a message that it "Cannot unlock maps". An examination of the "info" screen on the map section of the nav area showed only a blank screen. No Text. No version number whatsoever. I updated the Kenwood head unit software followed by the latest Garmin nav software. No change. A call to Kenwood cust support gave an answer that the unit must be bad and I should send it in to a national service center to be fixed. I called Garmin and asked if I could buy a map update and unlock the... Read more
